Hey, this is Brett Rademacher, and this is my eclectic journey into remote sales.
I became a pioneer in Internet-based remote sales back in the late 90’s. As a Remote Sales Pro, I’ve made as much as $350,000 in commissions in a single month, working from home.
Using what I now call, the Remote Sales Method, I became a top remote sales performer, in a myriad of different business niches.
That included being the top remote sales rep and remote sales team builder with one of Zig Ziglar’s personal development and sales training companies - while I was living in Alaska, of all places.
Over the years, I’ve taught tens of thousands of salespeople from all around the world, what it takes to be excellent, and how to be successful in Internet-based remote sales, working from the comfort of their homes, using my Remote Sales Method.
And from my perspective and experience, just about anyone, who is friendly, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and teachable can be successful in remote sales, using my Remote Sales Method.
The idea that you must be a naturally born salesperson to be successful in sales, or in this case remote sales, is a fallacy. I have seen countless non-salesy type people do very well in sales.
And I can teach you how to be successful in remote sales too, even if you’ve never been in sales before.
Let me explain why I believe that, by sharing with you how and why got into remote sales.
Back in 1997, I moved up to Alaska to be close to my parents because my Dad’s health was failing. My Dad was a retired U.S. Navy fighter pilot. He’d been a highly decorated Vietnam combat veteran, test pilot and a Blue Angel.
My Mom and Dad had moved to Alaska after his second retirement and selling his commercial real estate company. I wanted to spend some quality time with him before he passed away.
I left behind two businesses, so I had to start over. Back then people were still trying to figure out how to use the Internet for sales and marketing.
It’s laughable now, but I remember two extremely well-known marketing gurus, Jay Abraham and Dan Kennedy, who I’d followed for years, proclaiming back then that the Internet was just a passing fad.
Can you imagine that?
And I had studied Dan Kennedy's material extensively and was a protege student of Jay Abraham, so I really looked up to both of them, as they’re flat-out marketing geniuses.
I think of Dan Kennedy as a blue-collar marketing genius and Jay Abraham as a white-collar marketing genius.
But I had a gut feeling they were dead wrong. So, I rented an ugly office in a beat-up old warehouse. And for 3 months, all I did was search the internet 8, 10, 12 and sometimes 16 hours a day, trying to figure it out.
I had some pressing questions I was seeking answers to...
First was, “What was the Internet and how can I use it to make money?” At that time, I had absolutely no clue how I could make money on the Internet. I could use an Internet browser, send an email, and use a sales contact management software called Act!, that my Dad had taught me how to use when he was in real estate. And that was about it.
Second was, “Where was the hidden opportunity for me?” I wanted to find something that was new and got me excited. That was ground floor, but also had long-term potential too.
Third was, “How can I NOT be geographically challenged in the future?” I knew I would not be living in Alaska forever, so I wanted to be able to move to wherever I wanted to live, and not have to start all over again, like I was having to do then.
And fourth was, “How could I leverage my sales, and marketing, and business abilities?" I had already been a top salesperson and was independently tested to be in the top 5% of salespeople nationwide in the United States.
I’d started numerous businesses based on my sales and marketing skills and I’d done some sales consulting on the side.
I intuitively felt there was a lot more I could do on the Internet, to take my abilities and life to the next level. I just had no idea what “it” was or how to do it.
Well, from my ‘labor-intensive’ surfing of the Internet, I came to the simple epiphany that all the Internet was, was a global, instant information delivery system, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
And guess what? It’s still pretty much the same today, just more advanced and sophisticated.
Now as a result of all my ‘research’, I came up with a concept for a 4-part hybrid sales model that combined the power and global reach of the Internet with sales automation software, mass media lead generation and remote sales teams.
One of my primary objectives was to figure out how to create an Internet-based remote sales process and methodology that just about anyone could do. I wanted to design it, so someone did not have to be a super salesperson, or pushy, or manipulative, or dishonest, or sleazy to be successful.
But, I did not have a clue of how to do Internet-based remote sales when I first started. And it was no easy journey figuring it all out. I just had an idea and a vision in mind.
In fact, I spent two hard years in the trenches trying to figure out where the starting point was for a remote sales software system that I had in mind. What I was trying to do had never been done before.
Plus, I had a case of, “You don’t know, what you don’t know”. Looking back now, it was probably a good thing.
And if that wasn’t enough, I had countless top salespeople and corporate executives that I shared my remote sales concept with, tell me, “That will never work” OR “That’s not how you do sales” OR “You can’t be successful in doing sales this way”.
And to top it off, the first year, I was apart from my wife and 4 of our kids, for an entire year. My wife was not ready to move up to Alaska, until I had something that was working and making money. Can’t blame her and I agreed. She was right.
By the way, we stuck it out. We have 8 kids now.
So, every day, before I went off to my ugly office, I would look in the bathroom mirror and literally say to myself, “The buck stops here”. I felt that internal pressure every single day to make this far-fetched idea of mine work. I had to figure out this new remote sales model. I had no other option, but to succeed. My family was counting on me.
So, I prayed, and I worked, and I prayed, and I worked. I was very aware I was being spiritually led. I could not have done it this any other way. There were more than a few times I felt like quitting, but I just kept pushing on.
Gradually, step by step, I started putting the pieces together.
And I eventually figured out how to do Internet-based remote sales.
Now, way back then, I called it ‘Virtual Sales’. Nowadays, remote sales is the term they’re using, but that’s exactly what I started doing 25 years ago. And I didn’t just figure it out. I got really good at it.
Long story short, using what I now call, the Remote Sales Method, I became a top remote sales producer, income earner and sales team builder in a myriad of different businesses.
Unfortunately though, my Dad died shortly before things took off for me in Internet-based remote sales. However, he would have been quite proud to see how far I was able to take what he had initially taught me with that sales contact management software, and absolutely crush it at the next level.
The irony is, I never would have created my Remote Sales Method and had the tremendous success I did in remote sales, if I had not moved up to Alaska to be close to my parents, because of my Dad’s declining health.
Such is life. But an invaluable lesson I learned was, “You need to follow where your heart is leading you, no matter what.”
Well, because of the success I had with my Remote Sales Method, I’ve worked with, trained, mentored, and coached countless 6 and even 7-figure income earners in remote sales. Some of these superstar remote sales pros sell for companies that do tens of millions, hundreds of millions, and even billions of dollars in sales a year.
Now back in 2001, shortly after my Dad’s death, I launched my own cloud-based, remote sales software system. It was way ahead of the curve. I licensed it and architected my own sales systems on it.
I also consulted with remote sales teams and their top remote sales leaders on how to apply my remote sales concepts, strategies, processes, methodologies, and systems.
They were all different types and sizes of remote sales organizations, ranging from dozens to hundreds, to thousands, to tens of thousands of remote salespeople.
I even had my own global network of almost 30,000 affiliates that used my software to help them sell their products and services faster and easier and build their own remote sales teams. Plus, they marketed my software as well.
With the remote sales systems I personally architected on my software, I integrated a concept I refer to as Remote Control Selling into my Remote Sales Method. Remote Control Selling is a strategic blend of technology and sales automation, combining personal interaction within the sales process for more effective relationship building.
This one-two combination made remote selling faster, easier, and more profitable than the outdated ways of old-school conventional selling. It’s amazing how well my Remote Sales Method works when combined with Remote Control Selling.
Plus, it also allows remote sales organizations to scale lightning quick.
So, I know both what it takes to be a top remote salesperson and how to build high-performance remote sales teams. And I can teach you what it takes to be excellent and how to be successful in remote sales too, even if you’ve not been in sales before.
Thanks for watching and I’ll see you on the other side.
